HANGOUT: The Daily Fix

The Daily Fix Cafe Malacca | A Beautiful Distraction by Ruo Ling Lu
The Daily Fix Cafe Malacca | A Beautiful Distraction by Ruo Ling Lu

tucked behind a souvenir shop in Jonker Street is The Daily Fix which I've been wanting to visit it for some time. don't let it's secrecy fool you though. it's Insta-famous and packed with people from all over the place especially on the weekends. we got to pop by for a break between shooting our final year project in Malacca.

not having my usual dose (9.5 hours!) of sleep combined with constantly being in a sea of people for two days, that's the perfect recipe to make Ruo Ling grumpy and easily irritated. but fluffy pancakes to the rescue! matched with my dream team, I happily took that as the day's fix.

PHOTO DIARY: Breaking News

sadly... nope, I didn't got pregnant (no news is good news) nor did I get a film deal (no news is sometimes sad news).

nope, it's just the name for our multi-cam "live" production for school. a fun-filled, laughter-filled, scream-filled (I'm looking at you Thinesh) 8 weeks of hard work and teamwork. thankfully we managed to pull it off, and made it one week before the due date! the best part of each week's practical for me is everyone laughing at those stupid punchlines in the control room. and the worst part of it? after all of this ended, even before it ended, we would sometimes randomly start reciting the lines from the script - while waiting for the lift or while we're stuck in the jam.

it's "live" because we actually got to rehearse for 7 weeks HAHA and picked the best shot for submission. (inserts black moon emoji here). I think the pictures are enough to speak for me, I mean there're like, 18000 words there 'cause there're 18 pictures (HAH). anyway, what I wanted to say is, I guess it's great to have this experience - working with a team of cooperative people who know their shit - before I leave university.

HANGOUT: Wild Sheep Chase

Sundaze in Wild Sheep Chaze...

Wild Sheep Chase - named after a Murakami book - is a cozy, bright and spacious cafe located in Taman Desa. the most unique eatery here is the soufflé. we tried the limited Hojicha flavour and it was goooooood. I want more! the Earl Grey Milk Tea is refreshing as well if you prefer tea over coffee like me~

it was full house on Sunday but I guess it'll be a great place to relax and unwind with their awesome selection of magazines and books when it's not that packed. Hamada Hideaki's Haru and Mina is definitely my favourite.

the best thing about this cafe that Kyan and I think is that they put their heart and soul into making your food!

A COLLECTION OF HAPPY THINGS

wall goal~ *heart-shaped eyes*

"quirky", "cool" and "fun" would be the three words to describe Snackfood, this shop that Yuenny jio-ed, and jio-ed me to go. so finally, we went.

apart from lots of magazines (that I always droll over on Instagram), they sell notebooks, colouring books and other artsy/creative stuffs. they also offer garments, bags, shoes and accessories for OOTD enthusiasts (a bit pricey though). and apart from that, they also have takeover regularly and recently it's a terrarium workshop.

so yeah, it's really hard to categorize them. but Snackfood don't lie when it says it's a collector of happy things.

HANGOUT: PS150

since a few months ago when PS150 opened, Wilson and I wanted to pay a visit. because... aye, the Old China theme. (for reference: see this post). it's located few doors next to Merchant Lane and disguised as 陈大黄 Toy Shop. you have to pass through a lot of doors to finally get to the bar area, "like those Hong Kong big boss underground place" (quote by Wilson). we sat after the first door where it's sorta like a train booth. anyway, Ma, don't worry, I don't drink so I only had a mocktail which tastes a lot like Signature from Oregi.

- special thanks to Wilson for the photos // editing by me -

PHOTO DIARY: Up In The Air

left: guy's taking OOTD hahaha // right: ladybug bag!

don't think anyone gives a shit about the rubbish produced from the event but here I am, giving it the slightest attention~ (pfft, I'm just trying my luck to be the next Steve McCurry)

guy's selling water and he danced this buy-my-water-please dance at me (spoiler: I didn't buy from him in the end and he reminded me that I left my bottle in my car ==)

making new friends

blocked by some trees and a lamppost hmm but shimmer shimmer

lover's holding hand in front of a... Alam Flora truck (you can only know it when you're next to the truck, these trucks, they're getting prettier)

so I went to the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta with Jon and Sherry because I haven't been to any outdoor activities since... well, I can't remember. anyway, we only saw the balloons rise from our cars because we're dumbasses who don't check the schedule and were stuck finding parking (I nearly got into a fight?) and still sat under the stars waiting for liftoffs and guessing whether the balloon (last 2nd photo) is a giraffe or some other animal and sipping Thai teas (check them out, they're my new favourite) while everyone was leaving + trying to beat the traffic.
